Suggested sub-headings for chapter around 'types' of collaboration, maybe based on the targeted outcome, eg:
For each type, accompanying case studies (#3769) should be guided by prompts that are specific to the type of collab, eg for Industry-Driven Innovation in Research Labs
I really like the suggestion of organising the chapter into subheadings according to the type of collaboration. I would say, however, maybe it's better to wait until we have collected a few more case studies and, as we grow the number of case studies for each kind of collaboration, start adding these subheadings?
The questions on navigating open practices are great, I'll add them to the issue on building the case study template (https://github.com/the-turing-way/the-turing-way/issues/3912)
To add to @aranas points arising from our conversation. Another scenario I had in mind is when a researcher is seeking to commercialize something that they have developed into a product either by spinning out a company of licensing some IP to an existing entity. What considerations should they and professionals working in knowledge exchange / commercialization roles at research institutions have in mind to do so in a way that ensures ongoing openness conducive to the ethical use of any resulting products in open science.
What terms should be attached to licenses to require certain things be open, should they include sunset clauses which ensure that if commercial development is stopped resulting IP is unencumbered.
Similarly when starting a spin out giving consideration to using a business model compatible with ongoing open practices.

Summary of proposed chapter
In its present form, the chapter on Academic-Industry Collaborations could benefit from the addition of a further sub-chapter, tentatively titled “Case Studies and Best Practices in Academic-Industry Collaboration” focused on best-practices, lessons learnt, and case studies in successfully shaping ad navigating Academia-Industry collaboration for Open Science. The vision for this sub-chapter is to become a continuously updated database of academic-industry collaboration case studies that future researchers can reference.
A balance must be struck between producing research that is directly useful for the sponsoring organisation and producing research that is open, shareable, and beneficial to the larger community. This tension is tricky to navigate and shape, both for new and seasoned researchers. Therefore, researchers championing Open Science would benefit from lessons learnt and case studies from other researchers who successfully and/or unsuccessfully navigated this aspect of Academic-Industry collaborations.
