Cycling through areas next and prev buttons on mobile #2658

Hey guys,

I have a question about how the cycling trough areas works with the "next" and "previews" buttons at the homepage of an area, like marked in the screenshot.

Currently, if you use the buttons to navigate, you will also cycle trough the childs of an area, shown as the red numbers in the screenshot. So if you are for example currently at the area of "Chironico" and there at the sector "Barriera", you will navigate to the first bloc of this area. Also if you are at the last bloc of this area, you will navigate to the next sector, in this case "Boogalagga".

In my opinion this is a bit counter intuitive. It would make more sense to me, if the next button will go the the next area of the current level, like shown with the green numbers. So if you are at the level of a individual boulder, then it should just navigate trough this level and stop if the end is reached. The same for the sectors. If I'm at "Barriera", the next button should directly go to the sector "Boogalagga". This would make it a lot easier to scroll to different crags/areas/boulders. In general, if I'm viewing a crag, I want to see the next crag when pressing the next button and not the different sectors of this crag.

Also this feature would be great to have on the mobile view of TheCrag. Right now it's really a pain to go trough a bouldering area with many blocs. If you could just swipe, it would make things a lot easier and nicer. I don't know how many users visit the TheCrag on a mobile device, but I imagine that most people rather uses their smartphone instead a laptop or PC, especially for logging ascents.

+1 for adding the Previous and Next buttons on mobile. I miss this feature a lot when browsing an area with several sectors.

I also would like to propose to have the Previous and Next buttons always visible (in some form) in Desktop view. The situation at the moment is, that the buttons start disappearing when the browser window is just a little under maximum width. Basically, you cannot use the buttons, when you are working in split-screen mode.

Here are two examples:

Prev/Next buttons shown: image

Just a few pixels less width and the buttons start disappearing already: image

I was thinking that Previous and Next button would already be quite helpful for any type of crag. But for boulder fields, I think it would only be a workaround because it would still be cumbersome.

Just for inspiration, 27 crags has a nice example for providing an overview about an entire sector. Take a look at this example, where you can easily scroll (!) through all the boulders / topos within a sector: https://27crags.com/crags/crevillent/topos/el-bancal

@Drazhar As pointed out by Min he in this forum post you can use the "Guide" feature to show all sectors and routes within the crag on one page.

just add /guide to your URL
