Some "notable ascents by area" are _NOT_ from TLC #3700

What happened? The help page about area types says:

Top Level Crags (TLC):

theCrag uses the concept of the TLC for some of its system features. It is defined as the first area in a hierarchy that is not of area type 'region'. For example, if you look at Kalymnos, its hierarchy is: World > Europe > Greece > Aegean Islands (all regions) followed by Kalymnos (area type crag) which makes Kalymnos the TLC. The TLC, amongst other things, affects the following system functions:

  • Your notable ascents on your profile are grouped by TLC
    • ...

So I assume that in case of one particular route (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/leonidio/route/1227211254) "Leonidio" (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/leonidio) is a TLC and Arcadia (https://www.thecrag.com/climbing/greece/area/1664068173) is not (as it's set to "region"). Yet my profile lists one notable ascent from area "Arcadia".

So I guess that either there's a slight bug in the "notable ascents by area" feature or the help page needs a slight update.

Example url(s) to reproduce the problem: https://www.thecrag.com/climber/freddiechopin

Ideally also provide screenshots: Screenshot from 2020-06-09 07-49-54 (second entry in "by area" group)

BTW:

  1. There are cases where I have more of a "question" than a genuine issue to report (or I'm not sure whether it's a bug or feature) - like in this case. I think it was already suggested (I saw it somewhere) - I think a subforum on the website dedicated to "meta" stuff (like the website itself or technical/usage questions) would be a great thing. Now if I would like to ask such question on the forum I would probably have to do it at World level, which doesn't seem like a good idea (;
  2. How does "notable ascents by area" work? I would expect this feature to show some more areas (; I'm not a great traveler actually, but I've been to some more places and in some of them I even did the softest of the soft routes [; so I guess that in case of my profile this could list a little bit more - for example San Vito lo Capo (8a), Margalef (7b+), Kyparissi (7b+), Adlitzgraben (9) and maybe some more (Misja Pec, Orpierre, ...). Is there a limit (say "show only 5 areas") or maybe sth like that (say "list only one group for each significant grade")?

Initial query: i think rather a slight mis-documentation of the TLC

BTW1 - there is a dedicated issue open to that effect yes.

BTW2 - an update of the help section concerning these stats is on the TO-DO list as well.

Notable ascents is a ranking of the best ascents per user, using Grade for sorting.

Notable ascents by area tries to show areas where user spend most time, so it is a sorting of areas based on the full quantity of all ascents types inc fails & repeats. Once an area makes it in the ranking, the notable ascents of it are selected.

Yes there is a limit to the quantity of areas showed, i believe 5 areas, and up to 3 ascents of the highest grade per area.

I think somewhere there is an issue to increase the user setting of that display, or allow to extend it "unfold button type".
