Gym top rope ascents are not being shown in my gym pyramid, only gym sport ascents

Arzorth commented 10 months ago

bumping some issues I consider important

Arzorth commented 5 months ago

Any news on this one? I mainly have access to a top-rope climbing gym, and it is very disencouraging not being able to see the routes I've climbed, so much that I myself (the creator of the gym page on TheCrag) stopped using TheCrag to log my ascents on the gym.

I'm sorry that no one of the DEV team had a look on this. The name of the chart is "gym sport", the route gear style is top rope, correct? I assume the chart simply is not designed to show the grade pyramid for non sport ascents. Please note that this chart is quite an old feature and probably wasn't touched a long time.

If it this important to you, you could work around the issue (hack your logbook) by changing the gear style of the route to sport and log as top rope ascent. I assume the chart respects only the route gear style not the ascent gear style (tick type). If not, the workaround won't have an effect.

I think I have to change this issue from bug to enhancement. I believe either the requirements of the existing chart need to changed (and the design) or we need an additional pyramid for top rope ascents. But if we introduce a chart per tick type the climbers profile would be filled with a lot charts. Maybe we need user settings to configure the existing charts.

Anyway, looks like a bunch of work. So please think about the workaround.

Hi Kai,

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I've tried the workaround (changing the gear style of the route, keeping top ascent) it didn't work, it still doesn't show it on the pyramid.

The only way to make it appear in the pyramid is by setting the ascent as sport (lead) which is not in line with reality.

Answering to your sentence:

The name of the chart is "gym sport"

Yes, it seems that it is not meant to register top rope ascents, which could be understood.

Alright, thanks!
