Expose parameters via config files #24

I posted this suggestion on the forums. but this may be a better place to keep track of a request like this.

I would love to have more of the plugins settings (distances, science values, etc) avaliable in configurtation files, so those of us that would much rather have to drive 10+km for a bigger science payout could have an easily shareable config file.

Its a love to have, not a must have, but I think it would allow more people to enjoy the plugin.

Will work on this for pre-release 4 maybe this afternoon or tomorrow. Please stay tuned.

I may add a minimum values for things such as minimum distance to the science spot. It's a freedom thing but I don't know if I want people just turning it down to 1m :P

I think for now I will just expose minimum and maximum Rover distance. Do you (absolutely) want any other values available? I think it'll just be enough for min/max distance.

If your worried about people editing the files to give themselves tons of science, the can much more easily edit their persistence file.

For people who would rather spend more time driving, for a bigger reward in the end, having access to distances and the science values would allow them to tweak to their hearts content.

Obviously it would be a pain to expose EVERYTHING via configuration, but I would lean to the side of exposing more then less.

It's going to be a lot of work to expose the science values and probabilities , so for now I might just expose the distances and perhaps the body scalars. There's a moderate chance the plug-in will break with this work, so all I'll really need is help testing.

But I suppose you're right about limitations. I'll make the minimum (for the cfg) 1 meter and other such problem prevention stuff. Maybe a max distance of 100km.

Actually I was going to make it be upgradeable for distances. I just remembered!

With science you can unlock higher maximum distances, similar to how MCE has its own research tree.

You would be able to choose/input the max distance you want, because higher distances would boost science values, but would obviously take longer.

I'd really like to implement this in the future and a configuration file seems a little bit pointless with this in mind. I might still do it for body scalars and perhaps chances for the potential sciences.

Thoughts about the distance upgrade by science?

As long as science values go up relative to the distance traveled it makes perfect sense. You need more advanced detectors to the good stuff farther away, maybe even the ability to determine the quality before you get there at the highest levels.

Yeah, ability to detect the potential ahead of time is something I'm excited about. It would be subject to an "accuracy" variable on if it's going to be correctly predicted!
