Hey everyone, and welcome to Austin School of Game Design! My name's Scott.
I've been doing game design related hobby type things since 4th grade, when I dreamt up changes to Zelda: Ocarina of Time, blending it with Dragon Ball Z. (Seriously though, a Super Saiyan Link would be so rad...)
I'm totally fascinated by the interactivity of game design. The problem is that I'm not actually all that good at games. :) I'd probably be a pretty good academic, except that higher learning and me didn't really get along. I read all those masters and doctoral theses though, and have mad respect for folks that stick with it.
For work, I'm a technical project manager at a software company. Which basically means I organize things and write a metric ton of documentation. Both of which I do here as well.
On the side, I play games (mostly Zelda games if I'm being honest) and draw diagrams and stuff. I read a lot of book about play, education models, games, political systems, social structures, motivation, habit building, etc. I'm a firm believer that games and play are integral to how we interact as humans, and want to be able to understand that better.
I also wish that I'd had the opportunity to go to a good game design school. Since that opportunity didn't exist for me, I figured I'd start a more accessible one myself. Hence ASGD.
If you've got any questions for me, tag me with @wScottSh. Also, please introduce yourself and let us all know why you're here!
