What is your installation path? I assume all other internet communication is working on that machine? If you restart, you get the same error each time?

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

installation path is C:\Users\Arcade\AppData\Roaming\Bezel Project yes all other internet appears to work fine, im typing this message on the machine funny you mention that, it completely skipped my mind to try a restart, i will do that now

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

i still receive the same error after a restart

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

See if you can directly download that file with your browser. Put it in the "Bezel Project" installation directory, then restart the app and see if you get any other errors. Here is the link: https://github.com/thebezelproject/BezelProject-Windows/blob/master/resources/enabled_append.ini

Never have seen that result from any other user. Not sure where to go from here.

Try to copy the entire installation directory to another location (but don't put it under Program Files, or Program Files (X86)). I am wondering if there is an ownership issue/permission issue.

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

i have just downloaded the resources folder (zip) i extracted and copied all three files into the default install directory and now have this full list, does this look right? 112

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

Yep, that all looks ok.

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

so sorry when i click on mame and click the ok button i get this ? again so sorry this is first time trying to use your software 33

That tells me something is blocking the app from downloading certain files from Github. Do you have another computer you can install on as a test to see if the problem follows the app?

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

okay so i have just attempted it on my laptop and am having identical issue

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

Very strange. Either the DNS server you are using, or your ISP is changing your requests going out to Github. I have heard of this, but have never actually seen it.

What is the IP address of your DNS resolver(s) on your network? (Do an ipconfig /all in a cmd window to see the value(s))

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

sorry for the late reply my dns server in ipconfig just says 192.168.1.1 which is my router

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

Can you login to your router and see what DNS settings it has?

keshin88 commented 4 years ago

i have just tried this via hotspot on my phone to eliminate isp issues and im having the same issue, on a note both my laptop and my arcade are using windows 7 same install,

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

I just tried the same install type and install location on my Windows 7 test system. Everything completed ok.

The only alternative at this point is to try a manual install. Go to our MAME repo on Github, download the zip file manually, then place it in your %temp% directory. In the Windows app, go to prefs and set manual install to yes. Save prefs and try to install MAME again.
