Error When Trying To Install Bezels #45

I am using Windows 8 along with MAMEui32 v0.217 and I get an error whenever I try to install the MAME Bezel pack that says "ArcadeBezels directory not found in repository. Please notify the application director". I will list the steps I am using in order to try to download the bezels below.

  1. On the main menu I choose option 1 and Process MAME? then I push OK.
  2. Then I go into the preferences menu and under Native MAME location I put in the location of my MAMEUI32.exe and click on save.
  3. On the "Download Bezel" Window I Highlight "Update Install Script" and click OK
  4. I highlight Install MAME (MAME not Installed) and click OK (Here is when the error window pops up) Since it is saying "MAME not installed I am thinking that the Bezel Project is simply not detecting my version of MAME. If someone could let me know what I am doing wrong and how to fix it I would really appreciate it.

Under Preferences, do you have Manual Install at the bottom set to Yes or No?

appollo147 commented 4 years ago

Sorry, I forgot to mention that setting. I have tried both Yes and No and got the error message either way. I even tried adding al the variations of the MAMEUI32 filename to both the arcade=, MAME= section of the Bezel Project.ini file and that did not work either. I have completely run out of ideas.

What bezel style do you have selected in Preferences, Themed or System Art?

appollo147 commented 4 years ago

Themed

I just installed a fresh version of MAMEUI and can't replicate any issue.

When you try to install for MAME, do you see any progress bars for the download, or when 7-zip is extracting the zip file? Do you see any progress info for any action?

appollo147 commented 4 years ago

I should have mentioned that I get a 7-zip error before the other error that says "Cannot find archive".

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

If it can't find the archive, that implies the download is failing. Are you using a firewall? If so, make sure the app is allowed internet access. Can you test downloading other repositories to see if those fail too?

appollo147 commented 4 years ago

I allowed the app in my firewall and it did not help. I also tried running it in admin mode and that didn't help either. I tried the retroarch repository and got he same results.

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

Not sure what else to check at this point. I suppose any anti-virus you may be using may be blocking, or removing some aspects of the app. What directory did you install the app in?

appollo147 commented 4 years ago

I installed it in my H drive, which is a removable drive.

thebezelproject commented 4 years ago

As long as you didn't install into Program Files, it really shouldn't matter, however removable drives can often have bad sectors, so just as a test, please install somewhere on an internal drive and retest.

appollo147 commented 4 years ago

I tried installing it to C:\Bezel Project and that did not help either.

I assume you can bring up the Github pages for the project on that same machine using a normal web browser? https://github.com/thebezelproject?tab=repositories
