I worked out a callback system, but it fails when I am not adjacent to an undo/redo that was itself a mode change. It will take some silly hacking to sort that out. This was already hackish, adding a feature to the undo steps that is not even used by the majority of them. Perhaps I should change the UI? Why is it a drop down as opposed to a button? Well, it's nice if the user is reminded of what mode they entered most recently. Thinking...
When viewing nodes in "path to root" then switching to "mappings neighborhood", undoing to the original load, the dropdown doesn't change back to "path to root". When I try to use the dropdown to change back to mappings, nothing happens.
