Title:* Build it like AWS: Deploy a bare-metal container-ready infrastructure on-prem
Abstract: In March of 2016, Dropbox moved everything out of AWS and built their own internal infrastructure. Of course scale plays a large role, but new tools are developed that help operations manage infrastructure easier. Have you thought about running your own bare-metal container infrastructure? Learn about RackHD, an open source project that provides full system automation of servers, and how it integrates into Docker Machine, Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry to provide bare-metal consumption from native toolsets ready to run containers.
Outline: As you get closer to bare-metal, automation gets extremely tough. Our goal is to run infrastructure more efficiently and be hands-off. We have been talking about Infrastructure as Code for years but most of that has been related to virtual machine provisioning. Now we can take it all the way to the tin. Companies want to run containers over virtual machines because they are leaner and allow more flexibility, but running on bare-metal gains higher performance. This session will fill that gap and join the two together because integrations using the RackHD API allows native tools used to manage containers like Docker Machine, Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry
Key Takeaways:
Attendees will learn about RackHD, an open source project to automate bare-metal
Attendees will understand how to use RackHD with Docker Machine, Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes to deploy and manage container infrastructure.
A demo will be done to see it all in action
0 All code and integrations used during the session are all Open Source.
