Hmm, interesting! Yeah, we have to make our commits more meaningful for outside contributors. Can you list the advantages of adopting this system?

It would make commits more meaningful to outside contributors (like you said).
Good practice that allows more thoughtful commits and encourages better explanation when submitting PRs and commits.
You can automatically generate changelogs based on commits using something like this.
You could post the updates to reddit automatically, or anywhere else.

Tools like this and this would be neat and useful.
