Once upon a time, in another version of Ex nihilo mods there was a functionality where you could place a liquid in a barrel, then placing another on top of it in the world (flowing or source) would let it interact with the liquid in the barrel and create a reaction.
For example, I could bury a barrel under a layer of water, and upon placing lava inside it would obsidianize and I could easily pull the obsidian straight out of the barrel. It was great.
This would also work for automation to place lava on top and pipe a barrels worth of water in and then it would turn to stone and be extractable also.
If there are other reactions you know of from mods, they could also be supported too if you have the time or inclination.
