If you edit an existing post it strips all formatting (bold, carriage returns etc.) after pressing save. After editing again, to put the formatting back in, it is then always stripped after pressing save. Interestingly creating an original post allows formatting to be saved and shown as expected, it's only stripped when editing a post.
