AFAIK, switches "know" which servers are on which ports, via the MAC-addresses.
I assume, this information is available via SNMP.
It would be cool if this plugin could log into the switches, read out all this information and match the MACs from the ports with what it has in inventory.
That way, unidentified devices could be minimized over time.
As it is today, NOC has all the ports, all the MACs but doesn't really know what to do with them. They've labeled the ports, but it's a manual thing and done on a best-effort basis....
