https://sourceforge.net/projects/unityx3d/ has some import capabilities, I believe. Why not join forces ?

Hey @andreasplesch, I had some brief contact with Dave on the X3D mailinglist. Will try to pick it up again or merge some of his code into mine. He hasn't worked on his code for some time now though and many things in Unity have changed quite drastically.

Great ! Is the first step to just try out Dave's code to see what still works ?

Yes, pretty much. I haven't looked into it very closely yet.
