Footnotes not rendering properly in backmatter sections #29

In paper 16, there are a number of footnotes that appear in the Appendix, but as the Appendix is being rendered through the {{< backmatter >}} shortcode. These footnotes aren't being parsed and so are appearing raw in the text (ie., [^45], [^46], etc.), and not at all in the footnotes list.

The numbers can be added manually with inline HTML (<sup class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:45"><a rel="footnote" href="#fn:45">45</a></sup>), but there's no way to manually include the notes themselves in the main listing.

Fixed as of 947ae35. Had to take that section of the paper out of the backmatter shortcode and then add custom backmatter-like styling to the section. Not ideal. Closing
