Provide or edit short titles to be 40 characters or less #105

The titles of the papers appear in the top navigation bar of the online edition. We aim for them to be ~40 characters or less to avoid them getting awkwardly cut off in certain browser conditions. If the normal title isn’t short enough, we need to define a short title to use instead. Below is a list of papers that need new short titles, or that need their existing short title shortened. They’re sorted by the character count of the short title, or title if no short title exists. It’s ok not to worry about the ones in the 40s if there’s no obvious way of shortening them.

@rabarth1 While all the running footers in the PDF are now fixed and displaying properly there, longer paper titles are still being cut off in the navigation bar of the online edition, particularly in narrow desktop browser windows. (At a tablet/phone size we have styling in place to remove the titles altogether so it's not an issue at those sizes.)

We can leave them as is (it doesn't actually bother me hugely) or we'd need you to supply short or shorter titles as documented above. And in that case, though I stated a 40-character goal, in practice 36–38 characters is safer to avoid any truncations.

Let us know what you'd like to do.

Hi Greg and Erin,

I've tried my best with all of these. Some are a bit over the ideal character count, but I'm ok with that.

Thanks! Rachel
