Sorry, Erin! Crash is another proofreading term for when two elements, like the (j, "crash" up against each other.
Thanks @rabarth1. I eventually figured it out from context clues! I spoke with @geealbers about this, and unfortunately, there is no easy fix for the crashes as it is more an issue of font than it is formatting.
