Backward and forward arrows return blank screen #85

Using the arrows to either scroll forward or backward in the image modal frequently results in a blank/black screen. (It's somewhat inconsistent if it's forward or backward that creates the issue.) If I go back to the main entry page and click on an image to view it, anything that had previously resulted in a black screen is still black. I have to completely close the publication and reopen it for the images to reappear.

I gave some extra time to see if it was just loading slowly, but that didn't make a difference.

I tested this in both Chrome and Safari.

I'm also noticing this behavior if I open an image, close it, and then open it again (both in Chrome and Safari.)
