feedback system for listings: ratings, reviews, I'm going, stats, etc. #458

What problem are you trying to solve / opportunity you're addressing?

Give users richer data about the quality of a listing, with ratings,
reviews, etc.

Describe the rough idea:

A top class of feature requests is to 'close the loop' with feedback
about listings and organizations/organizers:
 - ratings/reviews (for the opportunity and provider)
 - an "I'm going" button, which then gives us the right to email
the user later, asking for a review or a "I didn't actually go"
 - stats: search impressions, clicks, etc.

presumably, this wouldn't fit on the search results page (SERP), so
we'd either do this as a popup (a la goog maps) or a details page--
either way, it becomes a little link below each listing where users
can learn more, and maybe important details displayed next to that
link.

Does this require anything beyond writing code? if so, what? where would
you get this?

TBD.

In the 18 month timeframe, how much impact could this have (number of
people impacted)? have you considered all the steps involved (e.g.
approvals, user signups, etc.) and whether they would slow us or limit
scale?

TBD

Can this be implemented in 3 months or less?

yes.

How does this impact users?

if people use it, dramatically increases the quality of listings.
The trick is the "I'm going" button, which then drives reviews.

How does this impact organizers?

Gives them feedback about what works.

How does this leverage partners?

Partners like Great Non-profits could potentially provide reviews,
and we'd also syndicate our reviews to them.

Does this bring up new legal/policy problems?

Ratings and reviews are more UGC, with the usual issues.
I'm going could raise privacy issues
Reminder-emails to review, bring up spam issues (yes, obviously we'd
include various easy opt-outs)
