Using sort drop down causes search results to be obliterated #571

To replicate, 
1. perform a search such as this one
http://staging.latest.footprint2009dev.appspot.com/search?your+location=999+5th+
st%2C+San+Rafael%2C+CA#num=10&start=1&vol_loc=999%205th%20st%2C%20San%20Rafael%2
C%20CA&distance=5&sort=score&timeperiodstart=everything&timeperiodend=everything
&cache=1.
2. then in the "Sort by:" dropdown change the seletion from "Relevancy" to 
"Date".  All results except on disappear in this example and drop down reverts 
to "Relevancy" 

priority set as High because if cannot get fixed, then should remove the drop 
down sort feature from the UI until it is working properly.

changed to critical since will either need to get fixed or removed before 
general user acceptance testing

Using sort no longer causes results to completely disappear.

reopened since still if in the "Sort by:" drop down you change the selection 
from "Relevancy" to "Date" the results are resorted, but then the drop down 
reverts to showing "Relevancy".  If the sort was by "Date" that is what should 
be displayed in the drop down

Results are no longer obliterated when sorting by date. The drop down also 
remembers the users choice as well.

Verified sort is retain appropriate selection when sorting by Date.
