I think prior to the upgrade on the blog post page, the emoji was used as more of a legend for related content (e.g. new project announcements get a 💡 emoji.
However, I don't think the emoji was intended to show on the blog post details page though like seen here.
I think the best approach is to just make the icon / emoji its own custom meta data and only reference it on the blog posts list page.
