6 years ago Ok! A little bit of brainstorming:
- If there is ever a time when tablets are taken somewhere that has internet (e.g. near a wall socket for power, or with a SIM card, etc.), then we could build something simple and useful. The problem is a logistical one, i.e. which teachers have the tablet at what time, and how they get their response.
- 99% offline means the tablet would have to "sync" questions & answers every once in a while. Something like WhatsApp/Facebook connectivity would be great, but I'm assuming we don't have that.
- The app could let a teacher send a voice recording, which can be made very small, especially if we make a time restriction (30 seconds).
- When a teacher leaves a question in the app, they record a question (voice or text), and leave their name so that their response can be retrieved later. This would function like a mailbox, where you could see messages sent and messages received in a "thread".
- We could also let teachers use a PIN to make sure they're the only people that can receive their messages, but I think it's best not to do that because it overcomplicates the process and encourages people to be secretive.
@lauradereynal @sylvia-sable the real question is whether or not the delay is going to hinder this feature. However, the idea of sending away a question to be "answered by an expert" is cool and full of anticipation, and could really spark some joy in people.
Regardless, if the above points make any sense, I think we can turn them into a little flow diagram and build something. @ryanwarsaw we'd need some S3 space (or similar) to store and fetch content. Are you familiar with that stuff?

We've brainstormed and concluded this is not doable because we have 0 internet and because the tablet is shared accross teachers.
