I'm considering this one. My first reaction was to just say no - mainly because
no
other calendar does it that I have seen. I might leave it open for now because
if the
user exerience can be done well and is intuitive, it could actually be quite
cool.

Hi Rob
If i had more experience i would write it myself. No other calendar does it and
its a
pain in the bum. I was showgin your to my non techy colleague, and that was the
first
thing he notices lol, typical!
To me i guess what would happen is as you drag over a hotspot (on the left or
right
or the calendar(maybe a 5px wide 100% high vertical strip). the calendar slides
the
next 7 days in to view.
Holding on the trigger area would continue to slide, but there would need to be
a
delay of 1 second before its retriggers to allow the mouse to be moved out of
the
trigger area.
Easy eh? I'm well aware its not that easy. If you do get a chance to do it,
that will
be sweet.
Keep up the good work.

On a seperate note, i guess an alternative for the time being, would be to add
a ui
calendar to the popup for the event, to allow you to rechoose the day. If that
day
day is on a different week, then the page, is refeshed to that section with the
event
moved into its new place.

Would be very neat just have an arrow on the right and left and when you drag an
event on to it the next/previous week would slide into place of the current
week.

I am working on a project where this would be very cool to have. I was hoping
the
calendar surface could be the only way to read/write event times, but because
of the
lack of this feature I need to build a separate editing function to support
moving
events across weeks.
Arguably it could be done by mashing up the weekly calendar with a monthly
calendar
view, and then letting you drag/drop the events onto the monthly calendar at a
later
week. Looks like Outlook does this, iCal does not. Granted this would be
quite a
large change to the project.
