NOTE 8 UPDATED OREO ALL CUSTOM APPS NOT VISIBLE ANYMORE #157

Open kaisertgc opened 6 years ago

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

I updated phone to Oreo Note 8. Custom apps not visible at all. Emergency. What should i do? Delete all and install adb?

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

@shmykelsa need your help?!

shmykelsa commented 6 years ago

As of right now, all hopes are gone and it's all down to Kimar. Google just killed custom apps starting from today.

ahhl commented 6 years ago

theres always hope. just need some time

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

@shmykelsa it is not about my updating the phone as I understand. Your method doesnt work? Whatelse we can do?

shmykelsa commented 6 years ago

@ahhl share your findings when you can!

@kaisertgc my method is currently not working simply beacause Google Play Services were updated. So right now any version of Android Auto will not be able to have custom apps. I do think that downgrading Google Play Services would be a solution, but it's tricky, it would need root and some Android aknoweledge about custom recovery and stuff.

shmykelsa commented 6 years ago

This is the full situation:

-App on Google Play Store, since they are approved by Google, will continue to work on Android Auto (e.g. Waze, Tinycam, OEM apps like Seat, VolksWagen and so on). -Downgrading AA won't do -Downgrading Google Play Services might do but eventually Google will lock your Google Services forcing you to update them and locking Play Store, Android Auto and so on -Probably never Google will approve custom apps like CarStream on the Play Store, which is the fastest way to have apps -Apps should be re-coded (and this is not something I have skills for)

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

My children loved to watch cartoons at car. I hope i will explain them the situation somehow.

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

Thanks for response and everything.

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

@shmykelsa And @thekirankumar the solution we find on thekirankumar webblog with the app APK Editor will that work ?

kaganozupek commented 6 years ago

I did not try but rebuild the source code with a package name belongs some approved app by google might work

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

@kaganozupeK i will try later tonight.

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

APK EDITOR PRO DOESN'T WORK Can't change the package name.

shmykelsa commented 6 years ago

@kaganozupek I thought this as well

kaganozupek commented 6 years ago

@stoeferke I dont know this apk editor but i m going to try change package name Inside source code and i m gonna rebuild it. i m away from computer so tomorrow i m gonna try this. If i can get success, i ll inform everybody.

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

Any solutions? Apk editor i suppose we can change and do sth.

Sirek4s commented 6 years ago

In my country Google officially doens't support Android Auto so I didn't download from PlayStore but from APKMirror. Only due to the fact I probably still can use the app. Make your phones think You are positioned in the country where Android Auto is not supported :)

izzykaka22 commented 6 years ago

Guys I uninstalled the app and put AA 3.0 I to developer mode and allowed unknown applications. Reinstall the carstream app and use APK Editor to change the name. Working fine again

izzykaka22 commented 6 years ago

Sorry guys I meant AA 2.9

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

@izzykaka22 I will try that tomorrow with vs AA2.9 an vs AA3.1 but apk editor pro didn't work last time I couldn't change te package name.

izzykaka22 commented 6 years ago

Change package name via manifest tab in APK editor. I used a bunch of random letters. Make sure after you build the APK you delete the old version of the app or the new 1 will not install

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

v3.1 it doesn't work.... carstreams appears in headphone tab but not in the right bottom tab (return home screen) apk editor pro doesn't work! when I change in manifest the package name I got more than 35 errors. the v2.9 I will test tonight.

izzykaka22 commented 6 years ago

APK editor pro works for me. Samsung S9 android 8.0 Car steam appearns in the bottom right corner

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

@izzykaka22 which AA version? It works for me only AA 2.9 Mine also android 8.0

izzykaka22 commented 6 years ago

AA 2.9

nameor123 commented 6 years ago

Has anyone who upgrade oreo and Google play services got android auto with any version working?

nameor123 commented 6 years ago

@izzkaka22. Have you update Google play services ? That's the most important question because everyone would be force to upgrade.

nameor123 commented 6 years ago

@izzykaka22 *

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

@nameor123 i confirm AAv2.9 works and carstream works on oreo and android 7 and i used the patch of @shmykelsa #116

MakerBreaker commented 6 years ago

It was working up until a few days ago (similar to everyone else here). I installed using @shmykelsa instructions using Minimal ADB and Fastboot and the application appeared under the bottom-right icon.

@stoeferke i tried installing AA v2.9.574923 manually (should i have done that in Minimal ADB and Fastboot?), then i unistalled/reinstalled CarStreamv1.8.3 as per #116 (by command line in ADB), but i still cannot get app to show in bottom-right. Also, Note 8 Android 7.1.

Am I missing something (your last post seems to indicate you have figured this one out)?

stoeferke commented 6 years ago

@MakerBreaker No manually is correct but you need to delete carstream before you instal AA2.9 Infact I deleted everything. Then I installed manually AA 2.9 Then I open the app AA 2.9 on phone and open developer mode there I accept to let him run unknown apps, video 720p and video 1080p I dont close the app after this I just go back... Then I run the installation of carstream by the patch created from Gabriel #116. Works on both phones with me

MakerBreaker commented 6 years ago

Thanks @stoeferke ! The problem was the developer mode in Android Auto 2.9. Apparently I had performed those actions previously and forgot to do them again with the down-version install. I didn't have to uninstall and reinstall anything, my previous attempt had worked, but I needed to check the unknown sources box in developer mode.

I can now say that I have AA2.9 working with CarStream1.8.3 on Note 8 Android 7.1 (Road trip saved!!!)

rost76 commented 6 years ago

I confirm! If you install Android Auto 2.9, then the patch will work. I installed the version v2.9.574923.

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

Today I lost apps with Android auto v 2.9. Anyone else?

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

Any solutions so far? V2.8 maybe to try?

etas2439 commented 6 years ago

Same issue today with ver 2.9

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

rost76 commented 6 years ago

Your AA updated? Cancel in the Play Market automatic update and install AA 2.9 again

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

No it wasnt. Actually, AA is not supported in my country. I installed it via apk. I think as mentioned before by @shmykelsa it is blocked by Google Play services.

MakerBreaker commented 6 years ago

I checked and can confirm that AA 2.9 (All app updates set to manual), is working for me and i didn't receive the newest issue described above by @kaisertgc . Since my last post i have upgraded to Oreo and still no issue. CarStream and Waze still working as of this morning.

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

@etas2439 also had the same issue. Seems google slowly patching devices. I dont know the explanation. You lucky))) @MakerBreaker

diluxp commented 6 years ago

yes it is no more working since morning

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

This is from APK Editor Pro editing section of a custom app's apk. Seems custom apps communication with google play services blocked. There should be a solution somehow no? I mean to trick this services check???

michelesilla commented 6 years ago

I've tried 2.9 after unistalled all. nothing. using adb nothing. apk editor nothing.. google play service is the issue.

kaisertgc commented 6 years ago

@thekirankumar

MakerBreaker commented 6 years ago

@michelesilla I believe you are correct in that the google play service update from 12.2.21 to 12.5.21 (as described in issue #162) is most likely the cause. I verified that I am still running google play service 12.2.21 and wasn't affected by this most recent issue

michelesilla commented 6 years ago

So , we have to downgrade google play services.

Who use root is not a problem, I think like you, but all others is a problem because google play service upgrade himself everywhere also if autoupdate play store is turned off.

Have you an idea to fix it? My idea is restore old backup but my phone is new and I haven’t backup.

At the moment all version was blocked from google , 2.9 (also variants), 3.0 and 3.1.

l’ve lost all my day to test them without find a solution...

michelesilla commented 6 years ago

A last chance is to downgrade play services, because upgrade upgrafe performance of gps , Tomorrow I will try unistalling it using Titanium backup and install the old version.

Can someone help me to find a secure link for versione 12.2.21 ?

I hope ..... thinking....

etas2439 commented 6 years ago

So I disabled the play services app and it reset the app back to Ver 11.05.09 then tried AA and its said Android Auto won't run until i update play services which it did, then didn't show the carstream player app now wondering if an way older ver of AA would run on the older version of play services, going to try tonight.

itchyd commented 6 years ago

I think this is the apk we want if anyone can figure out how to install it. There's no root for my phone yet (TMO LG G6) but maybe other people can get this to work!

michelesilla commented 6 years ago

someone known how to downgrade google plauy services for NON root samsung device? samsung s8 oreo 8.0
