I'm afraid this is very much obsolete now on several counts. I do appreciate you taking the time to contribute and wish this had been given a shake 7 years ago, but in the mean time several things have changed.
If you were interested in adding CSS hints like this the place to do that would be in Fontship, see this issue.

The format used for the @font-face declaration is the "Fontspring @Font-Face Syntax"[1] considered [2] "the most simple and compatible one".
