Blog Post Previews #8

Show post previews instead of full post. Also, put 5 posts per page with "next", "previous", and some page numbers.

Design the post preview as discussed.

One extra note, make the "read me..." red (the dark red we use) and underlined

Make sure there is a white box behind the text, eventually I will put a background for the whole page.

Try a few width's experimenting with a larger featured photo and same sized featured photo (in respect to body text width)

For the blog post preview & full post, make the width of the photos the same as the width of the text. Right now, the photos are justified to the left and not quite as wide as the text.

Is it going to be a photo background? I don't know if that will look good. Takes focus away from the content.

Btw, what you're asking for about previews is called an excerpt. You should be able to add this field in every blog post (it's a feature in wp)

It's going to be a photo background but it won't take focus away. It's going to be a monochrome close up of some mechanical componenet, so the content will stand out against it.

I've tried using excerpt but I wasn't able to make a good preview like that. They also have a feature to add a featured image but it doesn't display the way I want it to.

BTW, feel free to make a sample post since this site isn't listed on our main website. Just file it under random and delete it once you're done with it.

I'll play around with excerpt a little more to see if I can make it work well, but my experience with it thus far hasn't been the best.

The excerpts are working well now. You can choose to include one, and it will be displayed, or not include one, and it will be truncated. I haven't altered the layout of it yet.

Just checked it out, looks like we're moving in the right direction! Still need to work on getting a feature photo and altering layout for the title, date, etc. Let's plan to go over how it should look and change the layout soon. It looks too boring currently with no pictures, but I'm happy it was fairly painless to make it preview rather than the whole post at once.

Had to alter a few layouts, but it wasn't insanely difficult. PHP is annoying as hell though.

Could you leave some design details on the description for this issue? I don't remember the details from our discussion.
