This is something I noticed too, when winamp stops/pauses, edcast (and the
shoutcast DSP v1) stop streaming altogether. The way I'm writing v4 will stream
silence when no data coming in to DSP. I tried to make this work in v3, but the
way v3 is written makes it difficult

Hi,
First of all, thanks for your reply.
I thought a solution might be to have a buffer that is completely independent
from DSP. This buffer would be filled with silent samples that keep streaming
continuously.
Then, if some audio frames are received from DSP, they are mixed/added to the
silent buffer frames.
Regards,
Rena

As I said in my first reply, the way edcast is written makes this difficult.
However, I will look into it. This enhancement is no longer marked "next
release", so it MAY be implemented in v3
