Error while getting latest version: Cannot assign requested address: no further information #908

Running 5.3.5. If I try and check capabilities on indexer, try and check for updates or try and go to News screen I get:

Cannot assign requested address: no further information

I can’t seem to do that either.

But here is what the log shows that I am trying to fix. Seems like its having issues binding to the IP or port for outbound. I can login to the GUI just fine though.

Not much I can do if it can't bind to the IP. You didn't provide any of the infos I requested in the ticket template (e.g. OS).

Two other things I can offer. The machine has NordVPN and therefor is seen as multi NIC, not sure how hydra knows which NIC to use. Also I can see error if this helps.

I also tried setting the configured IP to 0.0.0.0. Can still get to GUI, but it can not connect outward.

It can start and listen on the port, that's not the issue. It looks like the VPN prevents the process from properly connecting to any external addresses. No idea why. Check your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) and ensure no weird entries binding localhost to multiple IPs. Try if disabling the VPN helps.

It does work if I turn off VPN. My guess is Nzbhydra is binding to the non VPN nic so it works when I am offline and have kill switch turned off (ie. The VPN software allows unprotected connections again), but when connected it must not bind to the VPN.

In any case, not sure if you can get it to work, or perhaps allow a NIC selection, or something?

I've been playing around and its definitely something to do with the binding. It should be binding to the IPv4 NIC address put into the config, but it seems like its ignoring that other than to start up the web GUI. All these other systems seem to use localhost binding or something that is not available when VPN is on or tries IPv6 or something. Looking on Goolge seems seemls like there have been other software that has had this issue and they have to force bind it to IPv4 using an IP rather than relay on localhost or IPv6.

In any case, I guess unless NorVPN chnages something or you do, can't use Hydra 🙁
