problem triggering activities / emails

Greetings, I notice the following anomalous behavior

• cron tasks are triggered correctly but not run in orsee; this applies to the mail queue, but also to all other activities.
  • a second problem concerns sending mail. Specifically, by processing the mail queue manually, 'bulk mails' (those queued manually) are sent correctly. Similarly, when a subject signs up on the platform, the automatic email to confirm the subscription starts correctly (as well as the other emails related to cron: sending calendars and statistics). Mail queued by other processes, such as session invites, also disappear from the queue, but are not sent.
• php mail works fine when invoked from script/console
• the cron task is triggered fine but when i try to forward the mail i find this error in the apache log [php7:error] [pid 1786988] [client 192.168.1.92:56760] PHP Fatal error: Unable to send data since the connection has already been closed in /orseePATH/htdocs/tagsets/class.fmailbox.php on line 4, referer: https://orseeURI/admin/cronjob_main.php

I really hope someone can help me out of this problem

Hi Daniele,

Thanks for the report. First off, please make sure to update to ORSEE 3.2.0, since there are a few issues when running ORSEE 3.1.0 with newer PHP7/PHP8 versions.

There may be a bunch of issues here:

• Regarding your first point, could you please explain a bit more? What do you mean by but not run in orsee?
• Regarding the 2nd point: Please note that experiment invitations are only sent if there are at least one session for this experiment that is 1) active, 2) registration time has not elapsed, 3) session is not full yet. If these conditions are not fulfilled, then emails are dropped from the mail queue. You can see that in the regular task log. For session reminders, there are also conditions when they are sent or not.
• Regarding the last point, class.fmailbox.php is only used for retrieving email from an IMAP/POP server, not for sending emails. Details have to be configured in settings.php. So I am not sure what this error is about.

Hello there and thank you for the reply

1) Having invitation emails placed in the mailing queue, when the OS triggers orsee processes the mailing queue looks executed from orsee dashboard, but then the invitation emails are not sent.

when I trigger orsee processes by hand (by clicking the run now button) we experience exactly the same problema as Nicolas (in Dec 21th, 2023 bug report) bulk emails are sent but invitation ones are not.

I can see the from the OS console, the scheduled Cron processes are being triggered but they doesn't complete failing somewhere: each time the orsee's cron processes try to start they break leaving only this error message in apache error log

2) we triple checked the sessions status (open), the registration time (not elapsed), session seats (available)
