Avoiding Social Dupe Posts #35

There was a request asking if it was possible for membic to check for dupes when sharing on social media. In the specific situation, the user had already tweeted a membic, and ended up tweeting it again later.

It is possible to search Twitter, but you need to have the person's Twitter id to find things. Other social nets require significantly more integration for this kind of information. It takes effort to establish and maintain these integrations, and it leaves membic prompting for information like Twitter IDs that it really shouldn't need to know about. Can see the need to avoid that situation though.

The preferred way to handle this situation is to connect your membic feed to a social media posting service. Then you don't have to worry about sharing when you write the membic, and the membics you post automatically queue up at one a day (or two a day if you set that in your preferences). There's a blog entry describing exactly how to do this using Hootsuite as the social media posting service. There are other service options, but this blog post describes the overall process pretty well https://membic.wordpress.com/2017/01/23/connecting-membic-to-hootsuite/
