I think the timer should pause when the "not enough guesses" modal is shown. And only resume if "keep playing" is selected.
That would fulfil @mherndonn 's request without adding another option.
please give us the option to stop the board at 37 guesses no matter our progress
Hi @mherndonn, could you clarify a bit what your motivation for wanting this feature is?
When implementing the give-up mechanic, my assumption was that there are two types of people:
In my opinion it doesn't make sense to care about the time for a failed game, since from before you could always mash the keyboard after you've lost to get a faster time.
Hi Bryan! Thanks for creating an awesome game. I hope I did not come off as rude in my first ticket.
My coworker and I are the type of people who care about "winning" the game but we want to see how much progress we can make in the allotted 37 guesses. So we like seeing how many words we can get within the 37.
This conflicts with the current scoreboard because if the timer keeps going DURING the "do you want to stop" board, that impacts our time, as well as the timer not stopping once we've gone over the original 37.
Ideally, we would love to see a legacy option where the clock stops at 37 and there isn’t a pop up.
I recognize this may be a niche request so I understand if you prefer to keep it the way it is.

Hey, thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately I don't think your case is common enough to warrent adding an extra configuration option. However if there are enough people who make the same request I may choose to implement it.
No worries, I totally get it. Would you be willing to please pause the timer during the popup as your coworker suggested?

To clarify I'm just a random user with an opinion, not a coworker! 😃
Would you be willing to please pause the timer during the popup as your coworker suggested?
Yea, that suggestion seems reasonable. I'll implement it when I have the time.
Thank you very much!

Feature Description please give us the option to stop the board at 37 guesses no matter our progress. It’s ok if you want to make this a toggable feature.
Motivation My coworker and I have kept a beautiful spreadsheet since May 2022 where we post our times and try to improve our time. The new feature has sadly negatively impacted our experience and anyone else who tracks their time.
thank you!
