Speedrun timer hangs #87

In the past week, I've noticed that after I enter about five words, the speedrun timer hangs - first for a second or two, but as the game progresses, it could be for up to 10 seconds at a time. When I enter a word, the letters don't show up right away and the timer stops ticking; then all of a sudden it starts again and the letters appear. Do I need to clear a cache or is there something else going on?

This is on an Android phone with Chrome as the default browser. All apps are on auto-update so should be the latest.

The game has definitely started to lag this last week. I use an Android phone (honor 9 lite), and both my parents (not in my house) use Amazon fire tablets and they're experiencing the same. As the game progresses the lag gets longer and longer between each press of a button (with or without the timer.)

Looking at the video, I could see that it hangs infinitesimally right from the beginning. By the 4-minute mark, the hang is 5 or 6 seconds.
