Unfortunately not because we have other SOF branches: stable-v2.2, cavs25-drop-stable-thing, mtl-006, ...

Not sure I follow, are you suggesting we might have to go past current history to patch those branches?

If not then I fail to see the issue, archiving just marks this repo as RO.
