Common dataset for SOXS vs XShooter pipeline output quality comparisons

We came up with a plan that would hopefully best make use of the very limited time AM and VI can spend helping us with the SOXS pipeline. We have a list of 3 XShooter datasets that have been very carefully reduced using the XShooter pipeline and subsequently published.

When ready, Marco and I can send AM and VI a version of the pipeline that they can use to reduce these data and compare the results with those reduced with the XShooter pipeline.

The 3 datasets are:

1. XQ-100: A legacy survey of one hundred 3.5 < z < 4.5 quasars observed with VLT/XSHOOTER. I think we choose the spectra from this sample shown in the figures of the paper.
2. The optical + infrared L dwarf spectral sequence of young planetary-mass objects in the Upper Scorpius association. Paper. The reduced data for these dwarf planets can be found on Lodieu's website ref 98 here.
3. AT2017gfo. Pian et al 2017, Smartt et al. 2017. Reduced data on ENGRAVE ERDA repo.

All of the data above is in NOD or OFFSET mode. We shall compliment these datasets with a 4th that includes STARE mode data. The dataset is of the X-ray binary SAX J1808.4-3658 during a 2019 outburst:

• [ ] download the dataset and add to test-suite
• [ ] reduce all calibration frames with soxspipe
• [ ] reduce NIR science frame to the point where sky-background subtraction is required ... use this frame to continue development of the sky-background subtraction algorithm (issue #86).
