Brackets (along with any enclosed text) are removed from the competition ID suggestion. Supports multiple instance of brackets, but does not support nested brackets.

What's the state of this PR? Is this obsoleted by Lars's recent changes to provide a dropdown of competitions to choose from?

Yes, this was made obsolete by the changes that Lars made!
