There are no English translations for these. Anyway, I would use generic terms instead. Like "system", "subsystem" and so on.

http://www.astra.admin.ch does not provide English translations. This means we will have to make up English translations ourselves.

• SPS = Speicherprogrammierbare Schaltung = Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
• NTA = Emergency Subscriber Line (ESL) = used by drivers in case of emergency
• NIS = Emergency Informations System (EIS) = provides service quality information for subordinate systems (ventilation, traffic, emergency subscriber lines)
• AS = Facility System (FS) = Roadster itself
• AR = Facility Operational Monitor = collects information of one facility (e.g. a tunnel consisting of two AS (depending on the number of lanes))
• LR = Regional Operational Monitor = collects information
• UeLS = Super Monitor System = collective term for any superordinate monitoring system

• NIS is a system by the company TDM and is basically VOIP PBX: http://trans-data.com/en/k2-categories/item/149-niscomnode and has nothing to do with ventilation and traffic management systems. For us, it sits on the same level as a PLC and is one of the concrete subsystems we typically have to deal with.
• AS (Anlagesteuerung): yes, our domain today. One AS is repsonsible for one facility (e.g. Notruftelefonieanlage, Beleuchtungsanlage, Brandmeldeanlage, Videoanlage, Ventilationsanlage, Energieversorgungsanlage, Signalisationsanlage, ...)
• AR (Abschnittsrechner): yes, supernode of many AS for one object (e.g. tunnel). Could also be our domain.
• LR (Leitrechner): yes, supernode of many AR, typically HA. Could also be our domain.
• UeLS: Term which includes the levels of ARs and LR. The new ASTRA term for this is LTA (Leittechnik Anlage).

Thank you. Maybe we'll just stick to simpler terminology and maybe describe all of these in an appendix, which just uses the German terms.
