Ver 2.24.1 - Unwinnable Seed (No access to Chamber of Birth) #113

Seed is 1897860856 As near as I can tell, the main things blocking progression are the Ring, the Mini Doll, or the Plane Model, and all routes to access them appear to be through Chamber of Birth. Since I am blocked from reaching the Plane Model, all doors to the Chamber of Birth are blocked. No Entrance Randomizer settings were enabled.

Hold up... what's stopping you from reaching the plane model? You can reach the key of eternity, philosopher's ocarina, and, with a bit of adventuring, reach the birth seal (which is in dimensional corridor), to get the dragon bone, so you can find the plane model at the death seal. That is... you have the feather, right? Edit: wait you don't need the birth seal to reach chamber of extinction, you can reach it through the endless corridor, via shrine of the mother

The issue with that path became the lack of the Mini Doll. Since removing the skull walls requires having both map softwares, and one of them was locked behind either having the Plane Model to light the Tower of the Goddess and enter the Gate of Illusion from the top or having the Mini Doll to complete the bottom of the Gate of Illusion, I had no means of getting to yagomap.exe from what I can tell.

Hey... wait a minute... can't you get to the chamber of birth, through the graveyard of giants? You have access to bombs...

That route was where my need for the Ring came in - you can't destroy the wall from the left without the Ring, according to the Unusual Interactions page.

I might be misremembering things, but can't you reach the backside door between Gate of Guidance and Gate of Illusion without the mini doll, and therefore get the other map software? You only need the mini doll to reach Chi You... right?

You may be right about that, but I can't recall. I remember spending a few hours looking at what I had and narrowing down what I needed to get to, but since it's been a couple months, I'm not sure anymore. I can try making another run at it this weekend to see what I got stuck on so I have a better answer.

I just tried running the randomizer with that seed and all the same settings, and it ended up spitting out a different layout for me. I'm not sure I'll be able to reproduce this seed reasonably.

I haven't done a careful logic review, but if the items.txt is accurate, I think this is moot. With Chi You guarding a coin chest, the Mini Doll becomes a completely useless item. Likely caused by a misunderstanding of the exact puzzle triggers for Gate of Illusion, since many people doing casual playthroughs solve the Mini Doll puzzle long before reaching the Illusion save point and figuring out what it actually did.
