There are people who were hacking phpbb3 support based on the published
phpbb2 patch. It would be nice to have a ready phpbb3 patch.

I second this. I was googling for this very thing. But I am very nervous using 
hacked
code from an earlier phpBB. This would thrill me. I am the admin of
PanthersHockey.Net (click Message Board)

The built in one is worthless and recpatcha is a good thing.

reCaptcha support is included in phpBB as of version 3.0.6.
