ocamlfind does not see opam-installed stdcompat #13

I'm using opam 2.0.8 (but the same happened in 2.0.7) and OCaml 4.10.2 (but the same happened with 4.09.1). When I run opam install stdcompat, it successfully installs stdcompat.15. However, ocamlfind query stdcompat fails to find it. On the other hand, when I install, say, dune, with opam, there's no problem. I've talked to a bunch of people about this already, and no one seems to have a clue. Is there something goofy going on with stdcompat package registration?

Note: I've also tried versions 13 and 14 to see if that helps; it doesn't.

I had intended to reopen it with a more precise description, but this is fine.
