Question: Does the lack of fuse matter? #1

I'm in the process of building this board and I noticed that the manufacturer's original board has a fuse next to the 240V input, this new design doesn't. Just interested to know whether it was a conscious decision to not include a fuse on this new board design?

Looking at the specs for the machine, the motor is 120W so at 240V that's a draw of 0.5A. Would it be worth changing the wall plug fuse to something lower, say 3A?

Slightly concerned that if a short were to occur, or the fan motor develop a fault, there could be a significant heat build up / fire risk.

The board that came inside my machine does not have a fuse on it. The fuse is mounted on the panel and can be replaced from outside without disassembly of the unit.

I think there are several different boards that can be found in these machines. So it is totally possible that what I have might not be what you have.

So yes, there is no fuse on this replacement board. But it does make sense to have one somewhere. Perhaps you can mount it on outside panel if you don't have it there already.
