[Question] Does thingsboard edge have to be connected to thingsboard cloud to login? #29

Description I have a question, I want to install Thingsboard Edge in LAN and never connect to public network. Maybe I should install Thingsboard instead of Thingsboard Edge? Thanks!

ThingsBoard: 3.4.1
Browser: edge

Hello @qzwzqty

The edge must have a connection to the ThingsBoard CE server (cloud) - you can configure the dashboard, assets, etc. from the cloud only. You did not provide a lot of details on your use case, but most probably the correct way to go is ThingsBoard CE server standalone, according to your statement regarding 'never connect to public network'.
