I just did a search for pizza recipes on duck duck go and used the web importer on the top 21 results (running gourmet 0.17.2 on debian). Out of the 19 that downloaded correctly there was only one website (allrecipes.com which has a gourmet plugin) where the tags were perfect but with all the others it would have been easier if the importer had not made any guesses at all and left the user to tag the contents.
For the record here are the recipes: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/homemade_pizza/ http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Eggplant-Pizzas/Detail.aspx?prop24=hn_slide1_Eggplant-Pizzas&evt19=1 http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/pizza-pizzas-recipe4.html http://www.recipepizza.com/toppings/caramelized-onion-pizza.htm http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Gorgonzola-and-Grape-Pizza-235732 http://southernfood.about.com/od/pizzarecipes/r/bl30412c.htm http://www.marthastewart.com/925227/ricotta-pizza-fresh-and-roasted-tomatoes?czone=food%2Fcomfort-foods-center%2Fcomfort-foods-dishes&gallery=274796&slide=925227¢er=854190 http://www.pizzaoven.com/recipe/chicken-cordon-bleu-pizza http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/pizza-10000000524321/ http://www.recipe.com/pesto-grilled-pizza-with-sausage-and-peppers/ http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/caramelized-onion-tomato-pizza-127763.aspx http://www.varasanos.com/PizzaRecipe.htm http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/shrimp-and-chorizo-pizza-with-escarole-and-manchego http://www.greatpizzarecipes.com/ (access denied) http://whatscookingamerica.net/Pasta_Rice_Main/BaconPizza.htm http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/arugula_prosciutto_pizza.html http://www.momswhothink.com/easy-recipes/fruit-pizza-recipe.html http://www.annamariavolpi.com/pizza_recipe.html http://www.cooks.com/recipe/4e76o217/no-yeast-pizza-dough.html (error with download) http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/fresh-veggie-pizza http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-homemade-thin-crust-pizza-recipes-from-the-kitchn-45499
Jessica,
When you say it would have been easier if Gourmet had done nothing, are you also referring to the automagic Gourmet uses to hide banners/menus/navigation by default? I've found as a rule that at least is quite helpful.

I was referring to how it is at the moment.
I agree that the web cruft hiding is pretty neat. If all the web importer did was hiding navigation menus etc. that would be more helpful than what it does now.
I think that the automatic recipe tagging would be cool if it worked better, but it would be better as an optional thing, because even if it worked perfectly for English it would still screw up unsupported languages.
I'd also like to at least run the SchemaOrgParser on websites that use the http://schema.org/Recipe microformat...

while i import a recipe from webpage gourmet by default automatically selects the sections - sections e.g. instructions, ingredients etc. but while in english webpages it don't select the right section always. and while in my mother tounge webpage it never selects the right section. each time i need to first manully delete or unselect the sections assigned by gourmet and then again i need to assign my own right sections. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 - 64 bit and gourmet 0.15.3-0ubuntu2
