Weekly or Monthly Menu Planner #84

Open ockham opened 11 years ago

Converted from SourceForge issue 1107037, submitted by SourceForge user efm on 2005-01-21 22:27:02 UTC.

I'd like to be able to plan my meals in advance, so I can do freezer-ready cooking.

It'd be nice to be able to set up meal slots (not just 3 a day, but configurable), and then set up recipies for each slot.

Then I could generate a shopping list for the next month, and smaller ones for each week (fresh things only), which would save me a lot of time.

Thanks!

I too would like to see a meal planner. It is the only thing i can see that is needed to make it feature comparable to the commercial programs i have seen. If the nutritional analysis could then be extended for a weeks worth of meals, to maintain a diet for example.

It does not have to integrate with any other Calendar program per-se, just be able to import and export webdav iCal type information. It would also be handy for it to be able to generate 'shopping list' events so that my calendar on my PDA/phone will have that information when i go to the shops.

The way i see this going is that if my partner plans a meal and exports it via webdav/iCal to Google calendar for example, i can import her calendar re-export mine, and have an updated shopping list in my for when i head home.

The list of features for this as i see it:

The evolution-data server integration would be for what you're cooking when, yes? That's a kind of neat idea to go with shopping lists. I don't personally use evolution or plan my meals by calendar date, so this is pretty low on my own priority list, but I'd be excited to see anyone else work on implementing this :)

Maybe even store the data in evolution-data-server?

You can already sort of do this using the recipe-as-ingredient feature. You can select any recipe to use as an ingredient from the toolbar below the ingredient list.

I designed this for calling for common items like pie crust or tomato sauce. However, there's no reason you can't use it to create a "recipe" that is in fact a meal.

You can create a "recipe" that calls for a week of meals and so on to your heart's content.
