I told you I would send this PR... well, let's say a while ago. I'm not 100% sure all of this is worthwhile, so it's probably best to read it all and tell me which bits you think aren't useful.

Somehow I missed this last month when you sent it! So it's my turn to apologize. I'm really excited about this and at first glance it looks like I'm going to want almost everything, or maybe even everything! I'm going to take a closer look when I'm off work. Thank you so much, and I look forward to working together on this!

OK I'm getting to work on this again. I've merged everything into a new branch that I'm going to go through and make sure I fully understand, maybe pick and choose if there's stuff I don't want to merge into master, and then do a big merge in. Thank you again for this PR! Sorry it's taken me so long to take action on it!
