A 29-year-old woman P1 GA 38+0 with one previous normal birth calls you because the membranes just broke with clear amniotic fluid. No contractions. Now she thinks she feels something just outside the vagina. She wonders if it could be the umbilical cord.
What do you do?
A. Ask her to come to the department for an examination. If it actually is the umbilical cord she feels, it is impossible to save the baby
B. Tell her that it is unlikely that she can feel the umbilical cord. Call an ambulance, but not as an emergency
C. Tell her to lie down with elevated buttocks and make an emergency call for an ambulance
