Why is this necessary? Did you run into problems with relative links?

@thlorenz well, it's definitely not necessary. it just decouples the links with your repo, meaning that any other fork will have the links working by default

Yeah, but then other tools like the npm webpage may have trouble following the links, so not worth it IMO.
