What's the reason for surgeries without anethetics? For prisoners to save on medicaments?

I want to add different kind anesthetics meds/technologies:

• Morphine: Reduces pain during operation, patients are fully aware and might develop mental illnesses or adiction.
• Anesthetic: Completely sedates a pawn. This only last for 2 hours and can be stacked. Allows the player to miscalculate the amount required, causing pawns to wake up during operation.
• Gaseous: A machine that can be placed next to the operation bed, automatically sedates pawns and keeps them sedated.

For version 0.1, I only plan to add Anesthetic.

This also means that if players don't have the above items stocked, they might have to do critical operations without them.

For prisoners to save on medicaments?

That to, but that might not be optimal since they will scream. Causing negative moods on the doctors and pawns that hear it. But it's offcourse ideal for an isolated hospital with a blood-lust doctor.

It sounds good but should depend on surgery type to my mind. Operating a leg, a hand, amputations is ok without anesthetic (unless a pawn is physically sensitive). Brain too between. But surgery on intestines, on stomach, lungs, heart is quite another thing. Pain shock and death are very real even for those who tolerate pain well.

Morphine and gaseous are very welcome for the limited-tech playthroughs, cocaine and opium especially as well.
