I mean dragging components from the toolbar onto the track..

I don't think this is too bad. Deletion is worse, and much of the refactoring needed overlap.

On pointer start

on Drag, draw the drag component at the pointer position if one is selected, else scroll the track.

on pointer end insert the drag component if one is selected. unselect the toolMan.
