[Desktop] Strava: Introducing Our Updated Developer Program #1168

An email from Strava:

"As one of the 85,000 apps currently developing with Strava, you’ve already seen our rich dataset and 100 million active members. Now, our newly refreshed Developer Program offers even more features for your benefit. Important: to enroll in the new program, all apps must submit for review. Please read our updated API agreement and submit your app by October 26th, 2023."

Is this really something every Elevate user should respond to Strava, rather than only the app developer (Thomas)? On the other hand its been more than a year we have heard anything of Thomas, no updates, no comments - I wonder if Elevate development is still alive? Or have I missed something?

If anyone has any information, pls comment.

Next milestone is set: "Apply to Strava’s Developer Program Here’s a friendly reminder to apply to Strava’s new Developer Program by March 4th, 2024. If you don’t, you’ll lose access to our API and miss out on new program features and benefits."

I submitted Strava's requested form. Also mentioned that I'm the only user of my app (as it really is). BTW, in this form Strava requires screenshot with "Connect to Strava" buttons and retrieved data. What should I do if I don't have any graphic interface (in case of Python scripts, for example), I don't really know.

Will see, if they ban me from their API or not.

This is not an issue with Elevate for Strava, I think. Each user with Elevate (or something like that) acts as a single person with individual access to Strava's API. There isn't any shared API token (or whatever) inside this application: you must fill in your own in connector settings.

After day or two Strava reviewed my submission, and my submission was approved. According to their statement in Strava's knowledge base I'm acting in a Single Player Mode, which is fine.

I suppose I could have done nothing at all, and that would have been OK as well.
